So the dude on the horse is someone, some sort of a founding king. I am too lazy to look it up, his name is probably David or Irakli... Posted by Hello

Yup, his name is Vakhtang Gorgasali - a very cool king known for his imposing stature measured in 12 claws ( don't remember how much would that be in modern units) and an imprint of a wolf on his shield. "Beware of a head of wolf" was a common call during wars where he was chopping the enemies with his worded "propeller"

And he was the one who moved the then capital of Georgia -Mtskheta (you must know that city for its best Khinkali)to a new city that he founded and called Tbilisi.

It all started when the dude was hunting pheasants and a wounded bird fell into a sulphuric spring and boiled. King said - build a city here and call it Tbilisi.(Tbili means warm)

It is an ugly statue though. This one along with that monstrosity of "Mother of Kartli" should be replaced ASAP.
